parted and 78 heads

From: Mario Gzuk
Subject: parted and 78 heads
Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2006 14:56:42 +0200

Hi,
we have the following problem:
parted say that the disk (see below) has BIOS cylinder, head, sector
geometry: 9729,255,63.
But it writes other informations into the first sector of the fat
partition...
In sektor 1 of the fat32 partition the 2 bytes with offset 26 should
show the number of heads for interupt 0x13. And IMHO that should be the
same as parted gets from the BIOS.... Or am i wrong? But at these 2
bytes there is a value of "78" instead of "255". And also the 2 bytes
with offset 24 (which should contain the sectors per track for interupt
0x13) shows 60 instead of 63.
These all leads to the result of a "ntldr not found" problem.....

Maybe you can help me out of this ????

Here follows the system informations, if you need more let me know.
