Thanks for the report!

This may well be a bug that's being triggered by
the fact that you are resizing to a size that is
larger than 2^31 or 2^32 512-byte sectors.

It may also be that something about your set-up has triggered
a bug in Parted's (decaying) ext2 file-system resizing code.

I suggest that you use parted to set the desired partition
sizes and then use mkfs.ext2 (from the e2fsprogs package)
to create the file systems.
