cannot compile with gplc.exe on win32

I have visual studio 2003 installed, as well as nasm.exe.
It looks like gplc cannot find or execute pl2wam.
All executables, including pl2wam were successfully installed
in D:\data\gnuprolog1.2.16\{bin,lib...}
I downloaded GNU Prolog targetted for msvc, not cygwin.
