The original "insert each paste into the editing buffer as a single

I am unaware of this. What keystroke and why does it work?
In readline, editing commands can be `undone' by running the `undo'
command, which is usually bound to ^_ in emacs mode. Since the
bracketed paste text is inserted as a unit, it's treated as a single
editing command that can be undone.
