texi2dvi: error during processing LaTeX class files

hi,

initially i tried to prettyprint the standard report.cls v1.4a
(attached) via a2ps v4.13:

 % a2ps --debug report.cls
/usr/bin/texi2dvi4a2ps: latex exited with bad status, quitting.
/usr/bin/texi2dvi4a2ps: see report.log for errors.
[report.cls (tex, delegated to texi2dvi): failed.  Ignored]
[No output produced]

then i checked texi2dvi (GNU Texinfo 4.0) which gives even longer ones
(attached files "stdout" & "stderr" -- after i pressed a ^C) but still no
dvi
