You are joking, aren't you?  Such lines look ridiculous in an index
for groff escapes:

  \&, definition of
  \^, definition of
  \A, definition of
  \B, definition of
  ...

I know that I can redo the indices (and I'm doing this right now) to
improve the appearance in info files...
