Dear Sir or Madam,
with the attached file stored in /usr/local/info/dir, info segmentation
faulted repeatedly.
I realize that this file may be in a bad format, but it caused me to curse
'info' for a long time. Repeated installs and recompiles did not fix the
problem, since the /usr/local/info/* was not part of the clean and
reinstall cycle. I did not guess that a defective dir file would break
the program, and would have rather had it ignore and warn rather than just
die. I figured it out after I found that
info --version #worked
info --help #worked
info -f /usr/info/info.info # worked
# and with the '?' command I found the INFOPATH and started checking its
members
