    I am going to maintain the standalone info program.

Hi Jose -- I should have mentioned to you in my earlier message, that
the original author of Info (Brian Fox), also said he'd be happy to work
on any problems that come up with standalone Info.  (He's also on this
mailing list.)  

Eli Zaretskii and others on the list also contribute significantly to
info (and all the other Texinfo programs) from time to time.

I guess what I'm saying is, we're all in this together :).
