Hi there,
I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Simon Law, a volunteer for GNU
Press [1]. We have been busy this past month trying to get the GCC
manual ready for printing, so that it will be available when GCC 3.3
ships.
I already have two changes that I wish to submit.
1. A new option that suppresses indentation in the first paragraph of
any section. This has only be implemented in texinfo.tex, and I am
working on a makeinfo implementation.
2. A way of selecting alternate fonts. Currently, I have implemented
a file that can be included to replace CM with Palatino as the
default Roman font. This can be extended to other fonts (like the
ones supplied in GNU Ghostscript.) I have designed this to work much
like LaTeX's PSNFSS font packages. This can only be implemented in
TeX output.
I would like to know what is the best way to get these features
accepted; It would be quite nice to see these merged with TeXinfo
proper, so that we do not have to munge each manual before printing. I
am prepared to submit patches against CVS HEAD.
