2. Save \parindent and set it to 0pt
It seems less invasive to me to have \everypar use \kern-\parindent than
to save and restore it. More robust in the face of something else
tinkering with \parindent in the meantime.

Well, I removed you "by hand" from the To: address this time, but if you
want this to be effective, you'll have to get MUA authors to pay
attention to x-no-cc (good luck). Usually I simply do reply in VM. I
can't keep track of who is or isn't on any given mailing list any more.
Another option would be to dynamically set Reply-To: to the list name?!
