Cool :). I admire your perseverance in the face of all these formatting
obstacles.
Whether the bitmap (->Type 3) or outline (Type 1) versions of the CM
fonts are used is determined by the exact configuration of your pdftex.
I guess miktex is configured to use the bitmaps. Another TeX system for
Windows, called fptex (http://www.fptex.org), defaults to using the
outlines, I do believe. (Among many other differences, it's a long story.)
Anyway, I created an elisp.pdf on my system (from the current sources,
21.2.8), and put it at http://www.cs.umb.edu/~karl/elisp.pdf. Let me
know if problems.
