Very nice! It looks much better now.

Processing groff.texinfo with the new texinfo.tex, I have two
comments:

. Page 158: There is a page break between the three `\Y' entries; my
  macros essentially expand to

    @deffn
    @esindex
    @deffnx
    @esindex
    @deffnx
    @esindex
    ...

  Is this intentional? Then I need a command to suppress this
  behaviour. Otherwise, it seems that there is still a breakable item
  lurking around...

  BTW, something similar can be seen on page 156: There is a page
  break immediately after the @deffn line for `.sy'.

. A request for a future improvement: The columns in the index need a
  better balancing algorithm., look at page 238. The left column
  is normally spaced while the right column has a much wider line
  spacing so that the next index letter `T' starts on the next page.
