I'm not referring to Roman vs. tt, but really about tt vs. bold tt.
Unfortunately there is no (standard) bold tt font, or I would use it.
Regular cmtt is already pretty bold, so I figured ...
Bold roman can still be achieved with @b, as in
@defun @b{bold-name}
Since the @def... commands are supposedly for identifiers, I think tt is
the better default.
Fonts are painful.
