so the obvious conclusion is:

You can implement a ``minimal'' version; just to fulfill your needs,
so that you don't have more work than you'd enjoy.
If anyone needs a more sofisticated infrastructure, they can submit
a patch.

Be sure that when you do the first step, there will be people (like me :-)
who will comment on it, and who will know what can be done better.

But doing the first step is the most important thing, we will all be
grateful for it.
