    does not seem logical to me (reading the anchor does not reveal much,
    and also Figure and Caption should be together.)

Maybe this reads better?
* anchor::    Figure 1.1: Caption.

I haven't checked to see if it actually works, but hopefully the ::
will give the readers enough of a clue.  I'd prefer that to using a
period, but if it has be a period, ok.
