We could insert <wbr> after the dash.  Not sure how many, if any,
browsers actually implement that, or if the W3C has deprecated it in its
infinite wisdom.  But I don't see any harm in it, so I'll consider doing
that for the next release.

A worse problem is representing the em-dash itself properly in the
output.  I am somewhat reluctant to use the Unicode character.
