1) I do not remember seeing any mail about @emacro, and I don't see it
in the archives, either. Can you resend?
2) I don't want to document the terrible kludges in texi2dvi regarding
macros and @if... commenting, which are only there to work around the
makeinfo --iftex problem, which in turn only matters because macros
are so ill-designed in the first place that they cannot be processed
in TeX. I want to fix them (macros) properly.
3) I fear that I will never again have time to do major work on Texinfo.
For years now, all I've been doing is adding little commands, fixing
small bugs, installing the patches that get sent, etc.
Texinfo needs much more than that. Fixing macros, getting real i18n
input, having a more rational way of adding output formats, etc.,
etc., etc. Not to mention I have several hundred bug reports which
it appears I will not get to in this lifetime. I feel very bad about
that, and about Texinfo's not keeping up with the modern world.
So ... is anyone here interested in/able to take over primary
maintenance of Texinfo, especially makeinfo?
