Hi Jesper,
With the enclosed Texinfo file the reference to the @float in the
@listoffloats section doesn't work in the Info reader -- when I
activate it I get:

My immediate guess, without looking into the code, is that the "." in
the xref name is confusing the Info readers. As the Node Line
Requirements node in the Texinfo manual says:
* Unfortunately, you cannot use periods, commas, colons or
parentheses within a node name; these confuse the Texinfo
processors. Perhaps this limitation will be removed some day ...
Assuming this is the problem, I guess I need to make it clearer and/or
give a warning when a figure label contains the problematic characters.
