Ok, this would also explain why it works in emacs (and I believe in
pinfo).

Can you tell me in which function the scanning is performed, I can take
a look into the code.

(And maybe once I learn how to debug an interactive program like this,
that tries to open a screen ;-)

I know that it is unrelated, and I really like the behaviour. Better
would be an arbitrary man page or info node, in the sense: Get to know
your system!
