I concur with Karl's request. From

I can see that you use unusual ways to build the package (such as using
--with-included-gettext - not needed on glibc systems - and moving header
files from /usr/local/include/ to /usr/include/ without moving the
associate libraries from /usr/local/lib/ to /usr/lib/ ).

Can you provide a way to reproduce the problem with unpatched texinfo and
gettext tarballs on a mainstream Linux distribution, please?
