FWIIW, I can reproduce the bug on Fedora Core 2, Fedora Core 4 and
Debian version:
$ cat /etc/debian_version
3.1
FC 4 has Texinfo 4.8, the other two have 4.7. (But there might be some
vendor patches, of course.)
Karl, does "info gunzip" display the _manpage_ for you?
(If not, try another manpage, eg. "info intro" or "info passwd".)
