Oops, sorry, of course that should be `texinfo.tex'.

I'm glad it worked out for the other languages, but I still don't
understand why should German fail, there shouldn't be any
difference...

The quotes need T1 fonts, but I don't think we can simply change the
default fonts from CM to EC or whatever, as this might break older
documents.

As for the bookmarks, this is not at all trivial, so don't expect it
any time soon :).  It will probably also imply finishing the font
encoding stuff.  Sigh.

I'm glad your problems are (mostly) solved.

As Karl says, something has been done in this regard.  So when/if you
want to tackle this, don't start from scratch, let me know and I'll
send you the latest patches.
