Nothing, complain to DEBIAN (!!!!) install-info which did give the error
message. It matches:
} elsif ($asread =~ m/^\*\s*([^:]+):(\s*\(([^\)]+)\)\.|:)\s*/) {
$menuentry= $1;
$description = $';
thus without leading spaces. I reassigned this bug to dpkg.
