I think those other people are referring there to not cutting up a
single sentence or a single coherent paragraph into separate
strings.

No objections from me. :) It will be some work for translators to
catch up, but later on it will be easier for them to keep it up to
date.
Hmm, by the way, why are doc/info.1 and other doc/*.1 files in CVS
when they are generated files? Shouldn't these filenames be added
to .cvsignore?
