    sh -e is a portability nightmare.

Thanks for the info, Eric.  I've intuitively never liked -e, glad to
have some facts to back that up with :).

    I'd still like to see the overall exit status be non-zero if any of
    the intermediate steps fail, even though I do like the fact that it tries
    all formats in spite of failures.

Ok, I can buy that.  I'll look into it when I have a chance, barring
patches coming earlier.
