So parsing for node names would then depend on whether parens in the
*text* are balanced? I totally disagree :)! The content of the text
should not influence command parsing.

Yeah, and we don't want to do that for something this tiny. That game
is not worth the candle.
The change I want to make to Info format is find some way of handling
arbitrary node names (including periods, commas, colons) in all
contexts. Probably with address@hidden markers like @image. Although this will
also break current Info readers, at least then they won't be broken on
existing documents, only new ones that use the new feature.
