If that's the only way to fix it, we can do that, but
it'll be a hassle,  Each manual has (say) a dozen links,
and with Autoconf at least we keep old versions of the
manuals online so they'll each need separate copies of
the redirect files.  This is all doable of course, but I'd
rather it were easier.

For what it's worth my initial reaction, with the
Autoconf manual, was to suggest removing cross-manual links,
as they're brittle anyway.  With searching capabilities these
days it's sometimes better to avoid a cross reference
and simply state the feature in the other program in such
a way that it can easily be searched for.  My initial reaction
may be a bit much, but on the other hand the user and
maintenance hassle of dealing with non-working links
is no fun either.
