Hi John.
I suggest this patch.
We are following the advise of Karl Berry and not using @acronym{} in
the the documentation. See
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2010-03/msg00321.html
Hi Jose,
In that case:
1. We should REMOVE the existing @acronym{GNU} instances in
parse-datetime.texi. It doesn't
make sense to have some files using it and others not.
2. Since since that file comes from gnulib, we should recommend they do the
same upstream.
3. The existing Texinfo manual (at least the one on www.gnu.org) says:
"Use the @acronym command for abbreviations written in all capital letters
..."
(and even goes on to present an example using @acronym{GNU,} ).
If this is supposed to merely illustrate an example of possible use rather
than state a recommendation, then this text should be taken out of the
imperitive mood.
4. The GNU Coding standards should have a section this and general matters of
typographical
style. Maybe a @Gnu{} macro should be defined in some common header?
