Back to square one: it should be clearer, somewhere rather
easily reachable, that compressed files are supported :)
Hi Akim - I'm afraid I don't even really agree with that. My experience
is that most users are happy if they type "info foo" (or m foo RET) and
get something relevant to foo. Just reaching that goal, to the extent
that we have, has been an ambitious undertaking :).
Whether the info page found is compressed seems irrelevant to readers.
Sure, it should be documented somewhere (it is already in info-stnd) but
not necessarily "easily reachable". Also, anything is equally
reachable with search.
I'm not for creating a patch to info.texi that has a chance of
acceptance by emacs, but maybe someone else is.
