Hmm...  I thought that grep used to behave the way that I expect,
but it doesn't -- not any more, at least.  But nano still does.
Its Makefile.in.in (that it somehow pulls in from somewhere on
my system) seems to be from 2002, belonging to gettext-0.11.5.

I will report to bug-gettext about the lack of updating a .gmo file
when its parent .po file has changed in the current Makefile.in.in.
If they change it, you will get it automatically (in time), so you
can forget about this.
