Sorry, I should have sent the log.
However, it seems that you're right. It was probably Perl warning that failed the check suite. Everything went well with Texinfo 6.6. I should bring this up to the LFS team.
Building TexInfo 6.6 solved the problem.
I guess you won't need the logs since Perl was the issue.

I can't suggest workarounds without more information.  Could you send
the contents of tp/tests/test-suite.log?  Any failures should lead to a
line beginning with "D:" in that file which is followed by the name of a
file that shows why the test failed.  For example,

D: layout//diffs/formatting.diff

would mean there is a file tp/tests/layout/diffs/formatting.diff.  Could
you have a look at some of those files too?

If I had to guess, it is probably a Perl warning message that is being
output and leading to test failures.  There were changes in Perl that
were incompatible with Texinfo 6.5.  Maybe you could Texinfo 6.6 where
these issues have been fixed.
