I do not think that it is a good idea, in general, to generate a file in
the srcdir. When doing an out-of-source build, the srcdir should not be
modified at all. This is actually checked by make distcheck, but even
when make distcheck cannot check for some generation in srcdir, I think
that it is not a good idea. Of course, there could be exceptions.
