Indeed, but not for the objective I want to use that key.  In your patch
it was used to find the node, in my proposal, it is to find whether or
not there is a node associated and then define section differently.  I
have not tested with the original patch, but I am pretty sure that the
issue I reported arised with it too.

Indeed, Gavin removed that part to keep a span for nodes.
