There was, in texi2html, if I recall well, such option implemented
through an init file (that, I believe, I wrote).  It was lost, probably
long ago and would probably be obsolete.  My recalling is that there
weren't that many differences, mainly / in elements without closing
elements and a few others.

tp/init/html32.pm could be used as an inspiration, maybe.
