Hi
I recently discovered UNRTF and downloaded and tested the DGJPP binary.
http://www.gnu.org/software/unrtf/unrtf.html
Problems discovered:
* WEB: "UnRTF can be found here <Last release 0.21.5>" Dead link
* Files "ChangeLog and "NEWS" : content unnecessarily split into 2
files, messy (oldest or newest on the top?), no release dates
* Contact info is split into many files, and mostly outdated (where
to report bugs?)
* Usage info is very minimal and unnecessarily split into many files,
why not a single plain text file "UNRT0215.TXT" ?
* I could not get it working (see shot
http://users.freebasic-portal.de/dos386/unrtfm.png )
most notably, the "-P" switch seems not to work. What's missing? The
error messages
are not very helpful, why doesn't it look (at least in the DGJPP
binary) in it's own directory
(no path, just look for files)? Why doesn't it work without any
external files, at least for
the plain text output? Alternatively, it could offer by default an
"info-only" mode with
no output just detecting RTF version, counting words, lines, pages,
images & Co.
* What's the point of
#ifdef ESPANOL /* amaral - 0.19.2 */
"Enero","Febrero","Marzo","Abril","Mayo","Junio","Julio","Agosto",
"Septiembre","Octubre","Noviembre","Diciembre"
#endif
#ifdef DEUTCH
"?","?","?","?","?","?","?","?",
"?","?","?","?"
#endif
?
What is "DEUTCH" ? I can supply the German AKA DEUTSCH month
names if you / the program need them badly ;-)
Thanks.
