Hi,
i have now commited two changesets which should fix the bug.

The possible variations of boot preparations have become so
complicated that the first change reveiled coordination problems
with other -boot_image options.
Hopefully it is now possible to combine what should be combinable
and to be kept from combining incompatible things.
