I tried to burn CD-RW media with xorriso/cdrecord on BH14NS48
connected to PCI-IDE, OpenBSD-5.9/amd64.
Here is a log with verbose SCSI command.

  http://www.uaa.org.uk/temp/xorriso/pciide-xorriso-cdrw.log.gz
  http://www.uaa.org.uk/temp/xorriso/pciide-cdrecord-vv-cdrw.log.gz

Now I am checking Linux's lspci with IDE/AHCI and combine on/off.
It is very complex, please take a while.

By the way, OpenBSD-6.0 has released. If there is no problem to migrate,
I will test on new OS.
