I would need more info from you in order to tell more.

- The exact xorriso arguments you used in step 1 and 3.

- The kind of medium that is used (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW ...).

- The ISO image file of the medium.
    xorriso -indev /dev/sr0 -check_media data_to="$HOME"/image_file.iso --
    gzip "$HOME"/image_file.iso
  Send the resulting file
    "$HOME"/image_file.iso.gz
  to
    scdbackup@gmx.net
