Right now this patch is pending a fix for the mingw/msys autodetection,
which doesn't work. John mentioned he didn't know how to fix it, and
neither do I.
So unless anyone has an idea how to fix it, I think it's a good idea to
make a first RC soonish. I can take a look next weekend, for example.
