It fixes one of the regressions we were seeing in mauve:

-FAIL: gnu.testlet.java.text.SimpleDateFormat.regress: EST (number 1)
+PASS: gnu.testlet.java.text.SimpleDateFormat.regress: EST (number 1)

No new resgressions with this patch applied.
