This is my worry too. If people could get into the habit of just adding
the necessary minor alterations to this when they commit a change to
these interfaces, then we'd be okay. Unfortunately, that doesn't always
happen.
Now this is in, I hopefully should be able to merge this across to the
generics branch, and add the relevant updates on for that. Need to get
a working VM though yet... (sigh)
