Hi all,

We did a lot (much thanks to Michael Koch for working together the last
two days on irc going over all the outstanding issues) and we are almost
there. People following the commit-classpath list have seen that we did
a lot of code and documentation cleanups. There are also more Mauve test
cases and most outstanding bugs and patches (either on the list or on
savannah) have been looked at (but only the non-controversial/safe once
have been applied - lots to do for 0.10 and beyond!).

If you want to help test please take a look at the pre-release at
http://www.klomp.org/mark/classpath/classpath-0.09-pre1.tar.gz
(Warning, this includes the FileChannel.truncate() patch currently being
discussed on commit-classpath.)
When using JamVM you want to apply the patches posted at
http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/classpath/2004-04/msg00312.html

Before we release I want to have done the following:

- FileChannel.truncate() bug fix (see commit-classpath, already in above
  pre-release).
- Check whether to reimport new GNU JAXP (probably a version before the
libxmlj integration since that is to big a change)
- Check (VM)Process (PATH) environment passing.
- Make "official" mauve-results list.
- Recheck visual test engine.
- Recheck API documentation generation (either with native gjdoc or the
one now included in kaffe CVS)
- Add text/explanation about runtime VM classes from workshop paper
(and recent mailinglist discussion) to Integration Guide.
- Create Release Announcements
  - Add everything new to NEWS file (please contribute!)
  - Mailinglist announcement/Savannah news entry.
  - Update Free Software Directory entry.

Hopefully this will all be done tomorrow since I will take a little
vacation after the release. But there isn't anything super important
that is currently missing. So I expect a real release tomorrow whatever
we happen to finish.

Cheers,

Mark
