I agree. It's not particular difficult speaking from experience from the
proof of concept I did for this for qs. I imagine it'll be a module the user
loads if he/she wants backwards compatibility.

I have a lot of experience with making professional installer files for
Win32. It's not that hard. I also have access to professional developer
tools to do this. However, they are proprietary, so it would be better to
base create the installer files using open source tools. But when I looked
for those 2 years ago, I couldn’t find any mature ones. Perhaps that has
changed now.
