[Cvs-cvs] Checking out a branch as an 'overlay' ?

Hi,

        Is there a way to checkout tagged revisions of modules and retrieve the
contents of a branch which contains a few branched files atop it?

        If I retrieve a module, its files are sticky, so in effect I want to be
able to overlay a branch which only contains a few of the same
(branched) files over the module.

        The problem comes from the fact that only a few of the module's files
are on the branch.

        If I checkout the branch on top of the module, the files that are NOT
on the branch disappear from the sandbox.

        Since the module contents I want to overlay the branch contents onto is
NOT on the head, I can't use the 'get nearest revision option'

        Is there a way to do this?
