Hi Assaf,

I think it would be very good if we could get together a release of CVS
1.12.13+ which had all of the bug fixes and minor feature enhancements
that the distributions have come to expect.

I also think that the top-of-tree of CVS, while it has many good things,
may have gone into a direction that is not really currently complete
enough to release as-is. As an example, the move to adopt GNULIB macros
and functions stopped before they got to GPLv3+ in 2007, but are
probably not maintainable as a fork of GNULIB. So, that particular set
of changes probably needs to be avoided as the source base is upgraded.

Many of the patches that are in the main.trunk of the CVS release are
useful. This includes the patches by Sylvain Beucler <address@hidden>
that implemented --allow-root-regexp to be used.

For what it is worth, I have added Thorsten Glaser to the CVS project.
I think that most of what has been added to the 1.12.13-MirDebian-11
release would make a good start for a 1.12.14 release added on top of
the 1.12.13a patch.

I suspect a number of bug fixes are long over-due for a cvs 1.11.24
release as well.
