I strongly believe that JDB is upgraded to support JPDA, for the
following reason. To use JPDA with JDK1.2.2, it is necessary to download
JPDA from the Sun web site. This download includes it's own version of
jdb.

DDD does not access the Java debugging interface directly; instead, it
uses JDB as a command-line debugger.  If JDB is upgraded to use JPDA,
I'll probably be able to adapt DDD accordingly.
