DDD 3.3.11 (i386-redhat-linux-gnu) gets `Segmentation fault' signal

trying to access the graphical interface of DDD over a remote login via 
ssh ran in X11 on a mac.  running DDD on a linux machine, trying to 
display the graphical interface.
