I wonder if in your attempts to install a Motif library, you have
actually managed to install two different versions and DDD is getting
confused?

The symptoms you describe indicate that you have the Motif library from
one installation and the header files from a different one. This is
almost certain to cause problems.

Please try recompiling DDD after cleaning out all Motif installations
but one. Make sure the -devel or -dev package (whatever SuSE calls
them) matches the runtime package.
