 Thanks; I have seen it and even backported it to my test environment.  
It does not affect my scenario at all however as the kill commands get 
killed just as Expect's `wait' succeeds and then the subsequent TCL 
`close' invocation made on the pipeline in the caller hangs on wait(2) 
indefinitely.  So it's all the same area, but different modes of failure.  
I'll wrap up on my patches then and post them soon.

 Well, 1.6.2 has been out for a while now so I guess distros might well 
upgrade.  I think it's one of those packages there is not need with to 
wait for code to settle, as it's for core developers' use.  OTOH it's not 
a big deal for the intended users to check out and install the top of 
trunk version anyway.
