Follow-up Comment #1:

I have tested plugging in an external amplifier and speakers to the headphone
socket on an Asus laptop running Windows 10. Plugging in the 3.5mm jack popped
up an (Asus) dialog which offered to set the audio as Headphones, Headset or
External Speakers. Selecting the last of these caused the Denemo audio output
to appear on the external speakers. Subsequently plugging and unplugging the
3.5 mm audio jack caused Denemo's audio output to switch between the internal
and external speakers without further interaction.
I think the conclusion of this is that it is a matter of setting up Windows
and the connected hardware rather than setting up Denemo.
It *is* possible (via Change Preferences) to tell Denemo where to output its
audio but this is generally a bad idea as using other than Default for the
output audio causes Denemo to "hog" the audio output on that device - assuming
it is free when you start Denemo.
So the correct classification for this bug is "Invalid", which does not mean
I'm ungrateful to you for flagging this up - other windows users will now know
to go to their Windows settings and set up the default audio output!
